Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”
— Matthew 7:7–8 (KJV)
I’ve volunteered with SHAY’s Back to School Bash—an event that blesses students of all ages with backpacks, school supplies, clothing, and a full day of family fun, all for free. I’ve also witnessed the love behind Harvest Baskets of Love, providing full Thanksgiving meals delivered with dignity and care.

Monique Anderson is the visionary founder of SHAY, a community-rooted nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth and families across Beaver County. Raised in Morado Dwellings, Monique’s personal story is deeply tied to the community she now serves with unwavering passion and purpose.
With a strong background in case management, outreach, and community engagement, Monique brings a well-rounded skill set to her role. She is a proud graduate of Big Beaver Falls High School and holds an Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice from the Community College of Beaver County, along with a Bachelor of Applied Science from Geneva College. She has faithfully served in several impactful initiatives, including Angel Tree, the Anti-Human Trafficking Coalition, Elevate Community Outreach, and the Beaver Falls Recreation Board.
Monique has a gift for planning and implementing faith-driven, goal-oriented programs that uplift youth and families. Her strengths lie in safe spaces where individuals feel seen, valued, and equipped to grow. She is deeply committed to helping others rise above their circumstances and step into purpose.
SHAY was from Monique’s lived experience. As a young mother navigating school, poverty, and systemic barriers, she encountered people who believed in her and helped shift the trajectory of her life. Their support inspired her to do the same for others—and SHAY became the platform to make that vision real.
Outside of SHAY, Monique finds joy in her faith, family, music, reading, and self-care. She believes in showing up for others from a place of healing and strength and remains grounded in her mission to spread hope wherever it’s needed most.
is a Beaver County native whose passion for community and helping others thrive drives her commitment to healing and justice. A graduate of Beaver Falls High School, the Community College of Beaver County, and Slippery Rock University, she brings a variety of experience in criminal justice, mental health, and substance use counseling.
With a background in criminal justice and direct service experience supporting youth and adults across mental health, justice, and social service systems, ShaLisa combines her passion for advocacy with creative problem-solving to address systemic inequities and connect people to the resources they need to succeed.
She is currently pursuing her Master of Social Work, focusing on anti-oppressive practice and community-based solutions. ShaLisa is especially passionate about reform and empowerment, using her skills and varied experience to support programs that create meaningful impact. Her alignment with SHAY’s mission of spreading hope reflects her dedication to uplifting the community she calls home.
Outside of her work, ShaLisa enjoys traveling, learning about other cultures, and exploring the stories behind traditions.
is a proud New Brighton native who has lived in Beaver County her entire life. With a bachelor’s degree in communication from Penn State University, Alexis brings both professional expertise and heartfelt dedication to her role as Secretary on the SHAY board.
Currently serving as the Youth Director at the Beaver County YMCA, Alexis has built her career around her passion for youth development. She firmly believes that every interaction with a child is an opportunity to create a lasting, positive core memory—one that makes them feel seen, valued, and encouraged.
Her inspiration to join SHAY came after a powerful conversation with Director Monique Anderson, whose vision deeply resonated with her. That conversation sparked a desire in Alexis to support and uplift the mission of SHAY.
Beyond her professional and board work, Alexis cherishes her role as an aunt, finds joy in traveling, and values laughter as a key part of life. Her energy, compassion, and commitment to young people make her an invaluable member of the SHAY leadership team.
is a wellness advocate, recreational programming expert, and proud supporter of youth and community development. With 18 years of residency in Beaver County and as the owner of Awaken Fitness, Paula remains rooted in her passion for helping others pursue whole-life wellness—physically, spiritually, and emotionally.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Weber State University and a Master of Education in Recreational Programming from Concordia University. She is also certified as a Personal Trainer and Health Coach through the American Council of Exercise (ACE). Paula’s professional and volunteer background includes organizing recreational programs and supporting church and community-based initiatives, including Pathway Church, and SOMA Church.
Her strengths include program development, working with children, and community organizing. Paula is especially passionate about health, fitness, and reflecting the love of Jesus in everyday life. Joining SHAY’s board was a natural fit—she was inspired by Monique’s vision of youth empowerment and felt called to contribute her gifts in support of that mission.
Outside of her professional work, Paula enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, and staying active. She and her husband Darrell are proud parents to Evan, Ann-Marie, and Alec. Together, they are deeply involved in faith-based community life and committed to loving others well.
